The StabiliTrack problem stems from the StabiliTrak electronic stability control system. If these lights appear, it generally means these important safety features are being disabled.
This issue can happen at any time with any of the GM vehicles. We are currently working on a claim involving a GMC Canyon where the StabiliTrak light has come on five times within the first 5, mile period.
At first, the dealer said they could not duplicate the StabiliTrak problems, but after much persistence, they agreed the steering angle sensor was defective and it has been replaced. Unfortunately, the vehicle is still having problems. Throughout the years, we have successfully resolved numerous claims involving the StabiliTrak system where clients have received repurchases, new vehicles or significant monetary compensation.
If your StabiliTrak light comes on, you must get your vehicle back to a General Motors authorized dealer as soon as possible and even if they claim they cannot duplicate the problem, you want to make sure you receive a repair invoice confirming the appointment.
See the light? You need to fight for your rights. December 6th, at am. I own Pontiac I been having same problem for couple weeks. I bought it used only had car a year with miles. January 3rd, at pm. I had an issue where the service Stablitrak, and service traction control messages kept coming up along with a reduced engine power message. However i just got the truck back from the shop from it getting a New camshaft installed as mine original had a chip in one of the lobes and a crack!!! Two weeks after that my battery died. Not covered under warrenty i had to buy a new one. Then litterally 2 weeks later… Stability control failure causing instant lose of power on the freeway.
Which was not a fun moment as i almost got nailed 3 times getting to the side of the road. Mind you this is a 1 year old truck!I have a Silverado. What I mean by that is that when the message came up he truck would kind of shut off and come right back on Kind of like when an alternator or a battery goes bad and you have to reprogram your radio stations.
I figured if I switched the truck to 4wd the tc light and the stabilitrak message would go away idk why I thought like that but I did so I put my truck in 4wd and parked it. Now I have another problem because the truck is stuck on 4wd! Thanks in advance!! Convenience comes at a cost. Motochix answered about a year ago.
There is a traction control sensor on your wheel bearings. It will try to adjust according to speed of each wheel. It may be you have a bad wheel bearing as that was my expirance in my ' Robert answered about a year ago. I had the same problem with my impala the way GM put the plug in so low on the wheel water gets in the connector I unplugged and drained and put some electric on the connector promblem gone. Also check your battery ground cable. I had the same Stabilitrak message pop up numerous times.
My steering would lock and sometimes the engine would shut off. Luckily it was all under warranty. What I mean by that is that when the message came up h I disconnected the rack and pinion on my silverado due to a power steering leak.

While in motion my stabilitrack light illuminates along with the seatbelt light. This is rediculous. My truck has approximately k miles and about a week ago I was on my way to get something to eat when all of a sudden the check engine light started flasing, I noticed a decrease in power, I heard what sounded like a valve tapping, and the stabilitrak turned off.
U immediately pulled into a parking lot and couldn't figure out what had just happened. I decided to take the truck home and had the trouble code pulled at the auto parts store.
The codes were P. I swapped coil packs and wires, replaced plugs with AC Delco iridium, did an engine flush and oil change.
Replaced the oil pressure sending unit, put seafoam in the tank, and seafoamed the intake through the main vacuum line. Nothing worked and I'm drawing blanks. Has anyone found a commond resolution for this? Please help.

I failed to mention that I only use Mobile1 full senthetic 5w and consistantly check my oil level as well as keep up regular maintenance on my vehicle.
I've also read on this site, as well as several others, along with youtube vids that this problem has happened numerous times, and with minimal to no prevail.
I know without a shadow of a doubt that this was not caused by neglect. Just thought I'd try my luck in hopes to find someone who may have some insight on the problem.
I've read that one of GM's goto answers is 4k for for an engine replacement, and some have threatened to file legal action as a result. Cody answered about a year ago. Cylinder misfire combined with low oil? I cant make it to the next oil change without adding oil.

Add your complaint? Get free help with your lemon! I have a Chevy Silverado 4X4 with miles. While driving to work less then 2 miles my service 4WD system warning came up. The truck is stuck in 4WD can not switch it out. Also while stuck in 4WD turning is very difficult. Called dealership they told me it was safe to drive it in.
While on my way to the dealership still stuck in 4WD my check engine and traction control lights came on.
The truck started to shack and shifting at random and the RPM were all over up and down. I got to the dealership and checked in they took it for a test drive while I waited. After waiting 4 hours they tell me the engine has issues they don't know what or why and that it will be a few days before they will know anything.Traction Control, Stabilitrak, Brake Control Function, RPM Limiter- BYPASS
So that waiting game begins. Add Complaint. On Monday October 5,I was driving truck at approximately 60 mph on highway when suddenly all electronics went black and complete loss of power on highway. Luckily, I was able to pull of to side of road. I turned the key to off position engine was not running and waited several minutes then turned truck on and it started.
The traction light kept coming on and off but the truck did not loose power again-thankfully. I could have been killed or caused a serious accident. When I put the vehicle in reverse I heard a loud clunk and the "stabilitrak" warning came on and the indicator cursor that tells you what gear you are in disappeared.
I turned the ignition off and opened the door to reset everything. I started the car again and everything was normal. Driving down the road at 40 mph the "stabilitrak" warning came on again and the gear indicator disappeared. I pulled over and turned off the ignition and opened the door. Started the engine again and everything was normal.
Driving behind traffic at 20 mph the "stabilitrak" warning came on again, the gear warning indicator disappeared and the RPM's went to RPM.
I immediately pulled off the road and had the vehicle towed. If the transmission had shifted to a different gear this would have been a disaster. So how do you find out what problems are occurring? General Motors Stability Track Problem
Also after looking there is a lot of people with the exact problem as me. See all problems of the Chevrolet Silverado. The abs system failed when braking on a snowy, icy, slippery road locking all four wheels causing the vehicle to skid out of control. The brake light and abs light and tcs icon were displayed. The brakes had to be released to regain steering control and judicious use of manual braking eventually brought the vehicle to a stop.
The abs pump motor was noted running continuously even with the engine off. Onstar diagnostics indicated a traction control system error. This braking failure occurred in conditions that the abs is specifically designed to prevent loss of control!.
This morning I was driving to work. Stabiltrak error message came on my hud. Cluster and dashboard lights flashed off.
Everything flashed back on and radio presets were all gone. Not sure if this will continue to keep happening or if it is a frozen sensor, since it has been below 32 degrees here. Entire instrument cluster went out while driving causing loss of needed information such as speed and other pertinent information.
Dealer says there is a TSB that the entire truck has to be re-flashed including all modules in the vehicle because it does not recognize the instrument cluster.
During this time, all safety systems flashed and appeared to be inactive. Air bag, traction control, abs, trailer braking etc.
